    Fedora 22’s default display server for GDM is Wayland instead of X. Whilst this is a good move towards retiring X unsurprisingly there are reports of fairly severe Wayland problems on certain hardware. To avoid such issues in Chapeau 22 Wayland has been disabled in GDM’s configuration and X remains the default display server for the login screen and desktop sessions for now.

Changed from Chapeau 21

Compared to Chapeau 21 the following has changed in Chapeau 22.

  • The default icon set has been changed from Gnome’s default Adwaita to the Moka & Faba sets from the Moka Project.
  • More wallpapers
  • Openshot has returned to replace Pitivi as the default video editor.
  • The following applications have been added to the default set;
    • Gnome Calendar
    • Gnome Books
    • Gnome Power Manager
    • systemadm

Noteworthy changes inherited from Fedora 22 are;

  • DNF has superceded Yum as the distribution’s update manager
